2 Casey got pole, Valentino qualified 10th. Pedrosa beat Casey to the first corner, Casey passed Pedrosa on the second corner and rode away. That's about it really. Even Rossi said the race was boring and it had nothing to do with Casey pulling away, there was just no racing anywhere.
3 Rossi worked his way from tenth to third. He passed Dovisioso with 26 laps to go. The first eight places then stayed as they were for the next 26 laps. Apparently there was some racing among the also-rans for eleventh. Here are the gaps between first to eleventh: 4, 12, 24, 26, 32 , 34, 35, 38, 47 and 52 seconds. Just awful.
4 Rossi had his 16th podium of the season and broke the record for the most number of points in a season, viz 373. He was the only rider to score points in every round. Pedrosa and Stoner each had three DNFs.
5 The winners of the 2008 champonship: MotoGP, Rossi; 250, Marco Simoncelli; 125, Mike Di Meglio. At the FIM awards presentation held the night of the Valencia GP, Rossi was awarded the gold medal.
6 Stoner received the silver and Pedrosa the bronze.
