Grant Wyllie and I visit Ian Smith at his home in Balmoral, a community near Lake Macquarie to the north of Sydney. The high point of the visit is a tour of his two-car garage, better known as Ian's workshop.

Ian's workshop is stacked to the roof on both sides with model aircraft. This shot is from one of the garage doors. I'm standing almost on the top of a scale Spitfire powered by a Ro-Jett 90 that is so big that no-one is physically strong enough to fly it.
