2010 Trip to Korea and Europe

Frankfurt - the end

Friday 16 July, 2010    At around 10:00 after breakfast, we said our sad goodbyes to Claus and headed for Frankfurt about 300 kms away. This map shows where we spent the majority of our time in Europe: Frankfurt, Strasbourg, Stuttgart, Ulm, Munich and Nürnberg. You could spend a lifetime in these places and still not see all they have to offer.

Friday 16 July, 2010    We mocked the Fiat Punto for being so underpowered but it did the job for over 4000 kms at around 6½ litres/100. It did the job perfectly well. : 2010-07-16 JGR FRANKFURT RETURN

Friday 16 July, 2010    We decided we'd have one last decent German meal before leaving, so we wandered over the other side of the River Main and found a really nice, pricy restaurant. : 2010-07-16 JGR FRANKFURT RETURN

Friday 16 July, 2010    It was a six hour flight from Frankfurt to Abu Dhabi but it was against the sun so we lost 4 hours crossing the time zones. When we arrived it was 19:30 and dark. The flight itself wasn't too bad for economy. It was an Airbus A330 and Etihad has to be the least bad economy class. It had a great entertainment system, the seats were less uncomfortable than other airlines and the food didn't make you vomit.

Friday 16 July through to Sunday 17 July, 2010    Three hours later we headed off for Sydney on an A340, crossed seven time zones and arrived there 14 hours later at 06:30 Sunday. Once again the flight wasn't too bad. It was great to see Alison at the airport. When we got home, Bob and Anne had been around and turned the heating on and put some food in the fridge. It was a really nice end to the best trip we've had. We already knew Claus and Michele who treated us wonderfully but so did everybody else who we'd never met before. It was definitely the best trip ever and these wonderful people made it so. THE END Return to home page     or go to the Videos
