With my aging body and health issues, I no longer want to travel overseas. (Jenni still does and will continue to do so). I really, really loved our time in Wackersberg, Germany at the farm. So, I thought if we could stay somewhere like that in Australia, that would make it an affordable holiday. But prices in Australia are just plain stupid. Sure, there are "farm" stays: horse rides for the family, petting zoos for the kids, air-conditioned cabins, swimming pools and spas, organised tours and activities (which I hate) and so on. $2, $3 or $400/night. Scratch that. Then I looked at country pubs, same shit, $100 and up. Ramshackle motels the same.

We decided we'd go camping instead. Prices seemed to be less severe at about $35/night for a camp site including flush toilets and hot showers. We decided that we didn't want to stay in a tent; we're a bit beyond that. However, a camper-trailer seemed like an idea that would work. So, I bought a new camper tent, the kind that mounts on top of a trailer, for $1,000 off e-bay. In September 2017, I bought a properly made, heavy-duty, 7X4 Zinc-dipped trailer for $1650. I sold the old trailer for $850 so the new trailer only cost $800 out of pocket.
