Tuesday, 7 March 2023 Sussie loves these limestone cliff faces; once at the bottom of an ocean. Tuesday, 7 March 2023 Tuesday, 7 March 2023 We drive a bit more north through another small bay called Mer d'Èze. In the distance, you can just see parts of Eze on the hilltop. Eze is a stunning perched village, known for galleries & an amazing cactus garden.

With an area of just 0.78 square miles (or 2.1 square km) and a population of 38,300, Monaco is one of the densest countries in the world." Wikipedia The road system is amazing because it's mostly underground. Tuesday, 7 March 2023 I came across this gorgeous sculpture above the Ranier Auditorium...."A unique bronze sculpture is to be found on the west esplanade of the famous Opéra de Monte-Carlo: Main Divition III “Ludus”. Tuesday, 7 March 2023 "It is a large broken and cracked bronze hand with a small globe at the end of the index finger. This massive piece is the work of the Toulon artist Bernard Bezzina. It was unveiled by Prince Albert II in September 2017. The piece symbolises strength, represented by the hand, and fragility, represented by the cracks. The sculpture suggests that we no longer hold the world in the palm of our hands, that it is almost slipping away from us. An illustration of our planet’s fragile balance. This giant work encourages the visitor to reflect on the future ahead. It also calls for action before we lose that balance for ever." Monaco Tribune

Tuesday, 7 March 2023 This is the Palais Princier de Monaco. "The Prince's Palace of Monaco is the official residence of the Sovereign Prince of Monaco. Built in 1191 as a Genoese fortress, during its long and often dramatic history it has been bombarded and besieged by many foreign powers. Since the end of the 13th century, it has been the stronghold and home of the Grimaldi family who first captured it in 1297. The Grimaldi ruled the area first as feudal lords, and from the 17th century as sovereign princes, but their power was often derived from fragile agreements with their larger and stronger neighbours." The area in front of the palace is cordoned off for cars but pedestrians have free access. You can tour "Ses Grands Apartments" as well; I didn't have the time to do this...next time? Tuesday, 7 March 2023 Some of the gorgeous properties in Monaco Ville Tuesday, 7 March 2023 Souvenir shops in Rue Basse near the palace.
