Our Last Day in KL

WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER 2008 - LAST DAY    We decide to visit Perdana Lake Gardens. WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER 2008 - LAST DAY   Jenni - the love of my life, my joy, my princess, my best friend. WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER 2008 - LAST DAY   The roots of this tree spread like tentacles across the ground. WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER 2008 - LAST DAY   Taman is the Malaysian word for park or garden. Rusa is a species of deer (also found in Australia) and Kancil is the mouse deer.
WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER 2008 - LAST DAY   The deer park doesn't open until 10:00 so we wait outside in lovely gardens. WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER 2008 - LAST DAY     It's now after 10:00 and we enter the deer park. WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER 2008 - LAST DAY    Amazing colours. WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER 2008 - LAST DAY   The mouse deer are enclosed in a cage.
WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER 2008 - LAST DAY    They're very tiny and timid, probably because they are just the right size for a jungle predator's tasty snack. WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER 2008 - LAST DAY   Rusa deer are also found on the Australian mainland as an introduced species and are a close relative of the larger Sambar deer. WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER 2008 - LAST DAY    Rusa Deer are very sociable and they are rarely found on their own. WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER 2008 - LAST DAY    Rusa Deer are so adept at hiding themselves that they may sometimes let you walk right past without revealing their presence.

WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER 2008 - LAST DAY   More colours of Malaysia. WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER 2008 - LAST DAY   Within the planetarium grounds is a mockup of England's Stonehenge.
WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER 2008 - LAST DAY    A nice picnic area overlooks Stonehenge. WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER 2008 - LAST DAY    We leave the planetarium and walk down the hill to the Islamic Arts Museum. WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER 2008 - LAST DAY   The Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia was officially opened on December 12, 1998. WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER 2008 - LAST DAY     We were not permitted to take photos of the exhibits but  we started on the lower ground floor which was an exhibition about how Islamic Art had influenced European art over the centuries.
WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER 2008 - LAST DAY   The museum is walking distance to the National Mosque. WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER 2008 - LAST DAY   I was now so ill with the flu that I caught a taxi back to the hotel while Jenni looked at the rest of the exhibits. On the first floor were actual models of the world's largest and most beautiful mosques. WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER 2008 - LAST DAY   The rest of the day we spent packing our bags and preparing for the trip home. At 6:00pm Steven was waiting downstairs to drive us to KL LCCT. It was of course, raining heavily as this picture taken at the base of the le Meridien shows. WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER 2008 - LAST DAY    It rained very heavily most of the way to the terminal. We boarded without incident, left on time, arrived at Gold Coast airport, exited easily and then discovered our car had been broken into.  Missing: all of our dirty clothes and my paint-smattered sandals; nothing else.    End of the adventure - Return to the home page
