1990 Travels with NCR

1990    I go to Northern Queensland to conduct seminars on quality management. It is all a big lie of course, NCR is never interested in genuine change but gives lip service to whatever management fad is around at the time. NCR never loses its focus on its stock price, downsizing and managing quarterly results. I approach Mackay, Queensland on the first leg of my journey and fly over a zillion cane fields. Main street of Mackay. These FNQ towns are very pretty.
I take a light plane from Mackay to Townsville. Townsville in the evening. Townsville is another very well cared-for FNQ city. The local traffic is quite a change after Sydney. Imax theatre and boats on Ross Creek. The ferry goes to Magnetic Island.
Inside the aquarium. 1990 0050 a Sharks in the aquarium. Looks a bit like San Diego.
Banyan trees in Townsville. Banyan trees are fig trees but not all fig trees are banyans. The Townsville Casino. This is my second visit to Townsville with NCR. The first time was to fix a Mohawk printer. Magnetic Island. Secluded harbour and Casino on Ross Creek.
Neat little restaurant area. Taken from the top of Castle Hill I then catch another plane and go to Cairns. A band plays in one of the streets. The Mall in Cairns
Where they weigh the fish. Lots of upmarket/tourist hotels in Cairns. Leaving Cairns.
